I love the beach and the surrounding areas; dune, bays, swamps, boggy grasslands. It’s the light most of all. The sound of the surf and the wind. The surprising amount of life in a often harsh environment. I don’t mind the searing sun, intense heat, relentless wind, sand grit, sand burrs/cacti and biting insects – it keeps the dilettante’s away. I don’t have much more to say and don’t need to if you know the beach. These photos are from Assateague and Hatteras National Seashores.
